It will always reflect back to you what is unhealed, unprocessed, and out of alignment.ย 

In a previous article, we reviewed how symptoms are messages about what is physically going on in your body.

Instead of viewing them as random occurrences, we can start seeing them as guideposts:

Many people with autoimmune conditions have a history of pushing themselves too hard, over-giving, or holding themselves to impossible standards.

The question is:ย Are you willing to listen and do the deep work?

Doing the Deep Work: Because Doing Anything Else Is a Lie

Healing is more than supplements, detox protocols, and dietary changes.ย 

It requires a shift in identity.ย 

We must be willing to look at what we are clinging to thatโ€™s making us sick.

Deep work is the process of confronting the underlying emotional and energetic patterns that contribute to illness.ย 

It requires honesty, self-reflection, and courage to address unresolved trauma, toxic relationships, and limiting beliefs.ย 

 

Examples of deep work include:

  • Release Past Emotional Wounds:ย Trauma doesnโ€™t just live in your mindโ€”it lives in your body. Whether itโ€™s through therapy, journaling, or somatic healing, finding a way to process and release whatโ€™s been buried can be just as powerful as any detox protocol.
  • Set Boundaries That Protect Your Energy:ย If certain people or situations leave you feeling drained, thatโ€™s not a coincidenceโ€”thatโ€™s a pattern. You donโ€™t owe anyone unlimited access to your energy. Protecting your peace is part of healing, too.
  • Address Childhood Conditioning:ย If you were taught to ignore your needs, be a โ€œgoodโ€ kid, or put everyone else first, those patterns donโ€™t just disappear in adulthood. Recognizing where youโ€™ve been conditioned to self-abandon is the first step to breaking the cycle.
  • Let Go of Outdated Roles:ย Are you still playing the caretaker, the overachiever, the people-pleaser? These roles may have helped you survive in the past, but if theyโ€™re costing you your health now, itโ€™s time to rewrite the script.

Healing requires courage.ย 

It means choosing honesty over convenience, alignment over approval, and authenticity over perfection.

You Are Sacred and Worthy of Being Well

Many people unconsciously believe they must earn their healing.ย 

That they have to suffer enough, prove themselves, or check all the right wellness boxes before they are โ€œallowedโ€ to be well.ย 

But wellness is your birthright.ย 

You donโ€™t have to justify your existence or prove your worth.

Guilt, shame, and self-punishment block healing.ย

Instead of waiting for it to scream (aka, symptoms), start each day by asking,ย What do I need today?ย More rest? Different foods? A break from that energy-draining friend? Listen andย respond.
